Fast Track to Selling Your Home

Blog posted On March 12, 2015

Home buying season is just about here. And that means home selling season is here, too. If you’re ready to sell yours on the fast track, we’re ready to help you do it. Here are a few tips to make it happen, every step of the way:

·  Find an agent: Before you think about anything else, you’ll want to team up with a local real estate professional who knows your neighborhood, how much homes are selling for, how to price yours for success and more. Nothing can substitute the insights, and experience, of an agent who knows how to get results.

·  Determine your listing price: How much have similar homes in your neighborhood sold for over the past three months? Six months? How about this time last year? And, how do current interest rates and market conditions factor in to your decision? Again, let your real estate agent be your guide.

·  Get on the market: Work with your agent to develop a marketing plan that will help your home sell faster. Then, commit to it! That plan should include getting your home ready to shine from the first day it’s on the market. Which brings us to the next bit of advice…

·  Dress your home for success: Put yourself in the buyer’s shoes: what is it about your home that has the greatest appeal? And what can you do to make the attraction even stronger? Remember, it starts with curb appeal. But every corner of your home should look inviting.

·  You’ve received an offer. Now what? Should you accept it outright or make a counter-offer? It depends a lot on whether you’re in a buyer’s or seller’s market, your confidence in how serious the buyer is (including whether he or she has financing already in hand), and how quickly you want to move. Again, let your agent help you through the decision making process.

·  Start “moving” as soon as your home’s on the market. You’re cleaning the house anyway, why not start packing the items you really don’t need daily? What else can you do to save yourself some time, once you know your home is sold? Make a “moving list” and include everything you can think of, even things like stocking up on packing boxes and masking tape. You’ll thank yourself later.
