Halloween Safety Tips

Blog posted On October 31, 2014

Happy Halloween! Before you take out your ghosts and goblins this evening for a fun round of Trick-or-Treating, or head out the door to partake in the traditional activity yourself, heed these tips for a safe and memorable evening.

Carry a Flashlight. Be visible to others by using a flashlight while walking down the sidewalk and crossing the street.

Drive Slowly. While driving home from work or around neighborhoods, slow down to help create a safe environment for children running around.

Use the Buddy System. Find safety in groups by getting a team of kids and parents together to travel the neighborhood.

Look Both Ways. Don’t forget this old rule when crossing the street. Especially if it’s dark, rainy, or crowded, make sure you look both ways before crossing.

Plan A Route. Plan a route, tell someone where you’ll be, and stick to it! Having someone know where you’ll be and an estimated time you will return allows someone to watch out for your safety and know where to look if something were to happen.

Stick to Well-Lit Areas and Houses. The dark can be scary for a variety of reasons on a night like tonight. Stick to well-lit areas and houses with porch lights on.

Enjoy a spooky Halloween following these safety tips.
