Previously, we’ve discussed shopping for discount prices when it comes to home furnishings and even repurposing old furniture. But there are some pieces that are worth the splurge. Check it out:
 
Statement Pieces – Interior designers love to add that one “pop” to the room that brings everything together and draws the eye to a central piece. Splurging on a statement piece is usually recommended since it will be a focal point; it should be a nice looking one. Buying something cheap will either not serve the purpose you are intending it to, or will catch the eye for the wrong reasons.
 
Health-Related Items – If it’s a back, knee, or any type of health related or medical issue, it’s generally better to splurge to ensure you are taking proper care of the matter. Don’t skimp on a recliner when you can spend a little more on a piece that gives you the proper support you need when relaxing.
 
Couches – While buying used couches could save tons of money upfront, the chances of them lasting and being able to endure the wear and tear are slimmer. Spending more money on a couch to get higher-quality material and
 
Mattresses – Mattresses are a very important part of our lives. Buying a used mattress not only may be unhygienic but also bad for your health. Getting the proper support for a good night’s rest is key to living a healthy lifestyle so do some research, shop around, and splurge a little on a quality mattress.
 
Window Coverings – Cheap window coverings look just that – cheap. They may hold up for a while but they will not be able to withstand direct sunlight or even normal use for very long without showing signs. Splurging on window coverings will also help tie a room together when done properly.
 
Not all household items need to be name brand or cost a fortune. But knowing which pieces are actually worth the splurge could end up saving you money in the long run.
