Host the Best New Year's Eve Bash

Blog posted On December 30, 2015

Cue the excitement and ringing in the New Year! Here are the essentials you need to host the best New Year’s Eve bash tomorrow.

Finger Foods – Make sure your guests are well fed without breaking the bank or cooking up an entire meal. Provide finger foods such as veggies and dips, chips and salsa, and desserts. Or even better, make it a potluck to ensure you have a variety of food to display for all!

Reuse the Tree – Don’t take down that tree yet! Spruce up a Christmas tree you had displayed during the holidays with white lights, tinsel, and plain gold and silver balls to repurpose this beautiful decoration for a sparkling New Year’s Eve party.

Festive Music – Create a playlist before your guests arrive or use a music-streaming platform to feed the tunes through your home. Whether you crank it up loud to dance to or use it for festive background noise, having some music to wish the old year farewell and ring in the new one always adds a nice touch to the party.

Photographs – Hang photographs on the wall or have them spread out near the food depicting the past year. Candid shots and pictures that highlight trending items from the year is a fun way to look back and remember what 2015 brought you…and what 2016 has in store!

Noisemakers – Everyone loves to make some noise as we count our way down to midnight so have the noisemakers, blowers, horns, and poppers ready to go! Display them in a basket, have them hanging from the tree, or have a bag ready to go for guests to use in their own way throughout the evening.

Countdown – The main event is counting down to midnight so be sure to make it memorable. Some people create a cascade of balloons to be dropped from the ceiling. Others ring in the New Year with sparklers and champagne toasts. Whether you watch the ball drop in New York or set every alarm in the house to midnight, enjoy the celebration with a hearty cheer!

Celebratory Drinks – New Year’s Eve isn’t just about the champagne. Keep in mind your guests will probably arrive cold from the winter weather so a hot toddy or even some spiked eggnog will keep you in the festive holiday mood while warming you up. Consider stocking your bar with the ingredients for just a few specialty drinks to avoid spending a fortune on too many mixers and garnishes. Display the recipes on cards next to the cups so your guests will have some fun ideas on what can be made with the ingredients you’ve supplied.
