Should You Install a Pool?

Blog posted On May 29, 2015

As the weather heats up, we naturally start gravitating toward warm weather activities. Now is when many people start considering the idea of installing an inground pool on their property. Here are some pros and cons of investing in this project:

Doing it “right” costs more – Ordering prime materials such as fiberglass and concrete are more expensive than vinyl. When spending thousands of dollars on a pool to enhance your home, cutting corners could mean an end result that doesn’t fit your vision. An average pool can cost $25,000 to $50,000. But adding lighting, spas, or even a diving board can add to that initial amount. Completing the project exactly how you want can add up quickly.

Water conservation – Living in an area where water conservation is a hot topic, installing a pool now is probably not the best idea.

Private oasis – Tired of sharing a public pool or community area? Installing your own is a great way to enjoy lounging poolside in private.

Maintenance – When making this decision, keep in mind the cost and time it will require maintaining.  Whether you do it yourself or hire a professional to check pH levels and clean your pool, factor this into the equation from the beginning to avoid surprises.

Installing a pool is no small project. Examine the pros and cons before coming to a final decision. A pool is a great way to enhance your home so prepare for any potential surprises during the process to keep you going. Once the project is complete, don’t forget to host a pool party for you and your friends to celebrate!
