Tankless Water Heaters

Blog posted On January 21, 2016

Many homes today are boasting a newer feature: the tankless water heater. What is it and is it worth it?

What is it?

A tankless water heater is a system that has effectively rid homeowners of being tied down to the traditional water heater. In these systems, water is not held in a tank but rather heated as it passes through the device thereby never running out of hot water or presenting the risk of a major water leak.

Is it worth it?

There are a few things to consider when researching tankless water heaters. For starters, as mentioned above, the water-heating device does not hold water like a traditional water heater and thereby forgoes the potential of bursting and creating a major water leak problem.

One of the main reasons why tankless water heaters are growing in popularity is because of the lower risk of potential maintenance issues as well as the fact that they could have energy saving qualities.

However, perhaps the only downside to upgrading to a tankless water heater is the initial upfront cost. These devices can run anywhere from a few hundred dollars to more than one thousand dollars.

It’s easy to see why this feature is becoming a huge drawing point for some homebuyers, and why some homeowners are deciding the initial cost is worth it.
